THE mystery behind "alien mummies" that sparked a Nasa probe has finally been solved.

The pair of ancient "alien" corpses which turned up at the airport in Peru's capital last October have emerged to be dolls.

Forensic experts have ruled out any connection to alien life after revealing that the two tiny specimens were in fact humanoid dolls.

They were likely made with paper, glue, metal, and human and animal bones.

X-ray showed that they used bones from birds, dogs and other animals to make the dolls.

Forensic archaeologist Flavio Estrada said: "The conclusion is simple: they are dolls assembled with bones of animals from this planet, with modern synthetic glues, therefore they were not assembled during pre-Hispanic times.

"They are not extra-terrestrials; they are not aliens."

He dismissed any rumours that the mummies came from another planet, calling it "a made-up story".

A separate three-fingered hand believed to be from Peru's Nazca region was also analysed, and it had no connection to alien life.

Mr Estrada explained that the badly made hand was put together using human bones.

The two figurines were spotted at the Lima airport in a courier DHL cardboard box back in October, 2023.

The officials only stated that the parcel was intended for a Mexican citizen before it was seized by customs.

The objects were made to look like mummified bodies dressed in traditional Andean attire.

The prosecutor's office is yet to determine who owns the mysterious dolls.

At the time, it sparked a speculation about possible alien connection among media outlets.

In September, a Mexican journalist and UFO enthusiast claimed he had found evidence of alien life and brought the odd-looking "alien corpses" to the Mexican congress.

But most of the scientists wrote them off as a hoax, probably made from animal parts mixed with disfigured ancient human mummies, but definitely from Earth.

It has also not been clarified if the dolls found in Peru were related to the bodies presented in Mexico, but experts stressed that both are not extra-terrestrial.

But some researchers have verified the legitimacy of a set of three-fingered mummies as a potential proof of "non-human" life forms.

This comes as scientists claim to have found that 30 per cent are "not from any known species" and that the figures were "authentic," consisting of a single skeleton.

But the remaining 70 per cent has not yet been revealed.
