It's not a true British winter if you're not constantly fretting over condensation.
If you spot water droplets forming on the inside of your windows or walls, there may be too much humidity in your home. Condensation can also occur when warm air collides with cold surfaces, which is somewhat inevitable when temperatures plunge below freezing outside and you have the heating on.
Whilst small amounts of condensation are normal, it can lead to black mould if untreated - which can have serious health impacts for children and those with respiratory issues. Many Brits rely on a dehumidifier to prevent condensation and mould spores, such as B&Q's Blyss Curve Moisture Trap that customer's swear by.
However, one man's condensation problem was 'changed overnight' by another device that people say is 'far more effective' than a dehumidifier.
Taking to Facebook's Builders and Tradesman Advice Group, Kim Wilson asked members how to get rid of condensation for good, as her dehumidifier isn't doing the job. She says her window gets "wet through" despite having a vent installed and leaving the window on the lock to ventilate the room and turn on the dehumidifier.

"It's making the walls to the left and right corner at the bottom wet through and also gets mould underneath the bottom of the window," Wilson added. Many social media users urged the woman to purchase a Positive Input Ventilation Unit (PIV).
The units, commonly referred to as Positive Pressure Ventilation, work by supplying fresh, filtered air into the property "at a continuous rate throughout". According to Envirovent, they can be used for thermal comfort or dehumidification and can displace indoor pollutants.

Kayla Kai said she recently had a PIV installed in her cottage after struggling to deal with condensation during the colder months for more than 25 years. "[There's] no more condensation, thankfully," Kai added. "Best improvement we have made for sure."
Stewart Mitchell also hailed PIVs, saying he fitted the device in three months ago and branded it as "amazing". He added: "I paid £450 but it's £350 now for the heated version (400W heater) it changed our condensation problem overnight.
"I fitted it myself, but is easy enough if you already have power in the loft. It also has settings on it for the size of the property."
