LOVE Island star Sophie Piper never mentions her famous sister Rochelle Humes on the ITV2 show - and now we can reveal the real reason why.

The same thing happened back in Sophie's original appearance on Winter Love Island.

In fact, viewers would be forgiven for thinking her fellow islanders were in the dark about who her well-known sibling was.

But when Sophie came out she revealed that her pals in the villa DID know all about her relationship with Rochelle- it was just never shown on TV.

And it seems it's exactly the same situation this time around too.

After her first stint on the dating reality show, Sophie paid a visit to heat's Under The Duvet podcast, where she spilled that it was actually the show bosses' decision not to air her discussing her family life on camera.

“We spoke about it. They just didn’t air it,” said Sophie during the interview, confirming it was a production decision.

As the same as happened this time around, it can only mean that once again producers have chosen to only focus on Sophie's life inside the villa.

The same happened when Gemma Owen was in the villa.

Despite famous footballer Michael Owen being her father, she was rarely shown discussing him.

In fact, many viewers speculated for weeks whether her villa love interest Luca Bish even knew who her famous dad was.

Offscreen, however, Sophie and Rochelle are super close and the This Morning host has been very supportive of her sister's telly stint.

When she learnt Sophie was entering the villa as a bombshell, Rochelle joking wrote on instagram: : "Got one out the jungle and one going in the villa… can I not have my evenings to myself please family?!"

She was, of course, referring to husband Marvin, who starred in I'm A Celeb back in December.

Sophie and Rochelle have the same dad but did not grow up together.

They had no contact for 20 years until they were reunited in 2017.

Rochelle and Sophie also have another lookalike sister called Lili Piper.

Rochelle was also her sister's biggest cheerleader during her original stint.

Rochelle didn't hold back in giving her views on Sophie's stint during her initial Love Island series.

At the time, the proud sister was quick to gush on social media: "Good luck baby sis. Bring us back a keeper!"

Sadly, Sophie didn't find love during her first villa stint, but things are looking promising between her and Joshua Ritchie this time around.

The pair both took part in the heart rate challenge this week.

And while other villa couples faced awkward moments when they learnt their tickers had not gone up the most for their partner, both Josh and Sophie's rates were raised the most for each other.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
