Minecraft Education is a version of Minecraft that has been designed specifically for schools and educational environments.

There are new lessons and experiences added to Minecraft Education periodically, with an ever expanding library of teaching tools.

Minecraft Education previously collaborated with David Attenborough’s iconic nature documentary series Frozen Planet 2, for one of the most downloaded lessons on the platform.

Millions experienced Frozen Planet 2 in Minecraft, allowing them to interact with the wildlife.

Following the success of this collaboration, Minecraft has worked with the BBC again to bring players a new experience.

Microsoft has created the Planet Earth 3 Minecraft World which is available now for people to play.

You can play both as a researcher studying the wildlife, or as the different animals trying to survive against the odds.

Minecraft hopes the world will give players a better understanding of biology and biodiversity, as well as the various ecosystems.

Planet Earth 3 series producer Matt Brandon says: “We are delighted to partner with Minecraft Education.

“[We hope] that children globally will have the opportunity to interact with stories inspired by the Planet Earth 3 series through immersive gameplay.

“Also while learning more about our fragile natural world and the creatures we share this planet with.”

Justin Edwards, Minecraft Education’s Director of Learning Experiences says: "Minecraft Education is delighted to extend our partnership with BBC Earth, building on our work in Frozen Planet 2.

“The new experience of the natural world in Planet Earth 3 brings us closer to the animals and their surrounding environment.
