One supermarket worker has shared the exact times to bag yourself a yellow sticker bargain.

The Co-op worker shared their knowledge on the "Yellow sticker, shopping, tips, tricks and hauls" Facebook page. In the UK, supermarkets use yellow stickers to show reductions in the price of products that are close to their use by or best-before date to avoid them going to waste.

Yellow sticker items can usually be found throughout the day in specific areas of the supermarket and as they have become incredibly popular with bargain hunters across the county, you need to find the golden hour as many shoppers are on the lookout, so you may find all the reduced items are gone if you get there too late. It is a skill to find out and the Co-op employee wanted to help their fellow bargain hunters out by sharing their store's timings for yellow sticker items.

Posting anonymously, the worker said that reduction times in their store started from 3pm and the first items to receive the yellow sticker were doughnuts, cookies and other freshly baked items. From this time, these products are usually reduced by up to 50%. At this time, the supermarket worker also revealed that all the other items which were reduced the day before were reduced again adding: "These don't really sell quickly".

For the "big reductions", shoppers would need to head to this particular Co-op store at 6pm as this is when anything with that day's date on will start to be reduced. They explained: "These are reduced by 75%, so for bread you get stuff for literally pennies. This starts with baguettes, scotch rolls etc, and works around the bakery into the fridges. These tend to go quick."

At this time, things also start getting reduced for the next day and the cycle repeats again the next day from 3pm. This particular Co Op worker says they "love" when shoppers bring them stuff to be reduced or to be reduced further adding: "Reach out to your staff & take the opportunity - we don’t mind! Happy bargain hunting guys!"

It's important to be aware that each supermarket - and each branch - will have its own set up for its yellow sticker items including what time they start to reduce items. This means your local store may reduce items at different times to the ones mentioned above.

Facebook group members flooded to the comment section to thank the supermarket worker for their advice, one said: "Thats a LOVELY thing to do help people out" with another saying: "That’s very kind of you and really does help low income no benefit families such as ours." A third said: "Really helpful for a lot of people thank you!"
