MARGOT Robbie and her iconic film Barbie has been snubbed by Bafta.

The 33-year-old Australian actress lost out to Emma Stone who won Leading Actress for her performance in Poor Things.

Barbie also failed to pick up any gongs throughout the evening - despite the film getting four nominations.

However, it wasn't plain-sailing for actress Emma either, who was caught up in a hilarious blunder after being announced as best leading actress.

The Poor Things star, 35, accidentally bumped into the cameraman as she stood up to an eruption of applause.

She could then be seen gesturing awkwardly at the camera before styling it out and heading to the stage to accept her award.

Meanwhile, despite Barbie leaving empty-handed, Bafta host David Tennant ended the night at the podium, joking: "Now as a wise person once said, come on Barbie, let's go party."

The camera then turned to Barbie stars Ryan Gosling and Margot who hid their disappointment with a laugh.

It wasn't the first time actor Ryan appeared to "fake" a giggle.

The 43-year-old looked confused by a gag made by Bafta host David.

It comes as...

During his near-15 minute skit, David said: "Barbie was fantastic. I keep thinking about maligned Ken, superbly brought to life by Ryan Gosling.

"In the course of that film, Ken becomes a progressive, a champion of the marginalised a voice for the oppressed."

Making a reference to Coronation Street actor Ken Loach, David joked: "And in the credits, you'll even see Ken's surname is actually Loach."

As the camera panned to Ryan Gosling he was seen looking confused as he attempted a laugh.

Meanwhile football superstar David Beckham upset Brits by referring to the sport as "soccer" while on stage celebrating the country's biggest night in cinema.

The owner of MLS team Inter Miami said on stage as he presented  the gong for Outstanding Debut: "They say that practice makes perfect.

"Well, that might be true in football - or soccer - but that's not true for the filmmakers nominated for Outstanding Debut. They got it right first time."

Elsewhere in the night, Christopher Nolan's epic biopic Oppenhemer won the battle against Barbie at the EE Baftas, scooping seven awards.

The thriller that tells the story of the creation of the atomic bomb was named Best Film.

But fans focused on Barbie missing out in every category.

Despite co-stars Margot and Ryan flying in from LA they were forced to leave empty-handed.

Margot put on a brave face as she cheered for her pal Emma from the crowd.
