CRICKET fans mocked Australian cricketer Adam Zampa after he was caught performing an "embarrassing" act before his side's T20 clash with New Zealand.

The Aussies lined up for the national anthems in Auckland on Friday ahead of the second of a three-match T20 series between the sides.

But something caught the eye of those watching as a video was shared on social media.

Bowler Zampa, 31, was stood in between Pat Cummins and Travis Head as he began to get fidgety.

He then proceeded to scratch his crotch, before he moved his hand up to his face where he appeared to sniff his hand and pick his nose.

And the moment led to several cricket fans reacting online.

One said: "Scratch and sniff mate?"

Another added: "One sniff for each nostril."

While a third replied: "That's just embarrassing."

Despite the somewhat unfortunate moment, Zampa went on to star with the ball for Australia on Friday.

The leg spinner, who hilariously failed a Mankad attempt last month, took 4-34 to inspire his team to a comfortable 72-run victory over New Zealand.

Australia posted a target of 174, but the Kiwis were bowled out for just 102 in 17 overs.

The result sees the Aussies seal a 2-0 series win ahead of the third match on Sunday.
