Ellie Goulding and Caspar Jopling have confirmed that their marriage is over after four years - and after she was snapped kissing another man.
The 37-year-old chart topping star and 32-year-old art dealer Caspar tied-the-knot in an extravagant wedding at York Minster on 31 August 2019. The now former couple welcomed a son named Arthur two years later - with the bundle of joy being born on 29 April 2021.
But in recent months, Ellie and Caspar’s marriage has been rocked by split rumours - with the singer spotted out looking close to 49-year-old politician Zac Goldsmith. And then this week, photos and video emerged of her kissing a surf instructor in Costa Rica - leaving fans fearing that the marriage was over.
Now Ellie and Caspar have confirmed the sad news that they have decided to split - and say they have been separated for some time. Taking to social media on Friday, the duo shared their news in statements that Ellie uploaded to her Instagram Stories. Sharing a statement penned by Caspar himself, Ellie uploaded the wording which reads: “Hi people - hope you’re having a good day. I feel (sadly) that I need to say something on mine and Ellie’s current relationship.. that I hope more than anything will make any final tabloid speculation disappear.
“Ellie and I made the decision to separate some time ago. Our immediate family and close friends have known for some time - otherwise we chose to do what we could to keep this private. Ellie and I remain the closest of friends and, most importantly, ‘co-parents’ to the best kiddo in the world, Arthur. This is the last I want to say on this - and please ask that you respect mine and Ellie’s privacy. Thanks a lot. Caspar.”

She wrote: “In light of recent stories, I feel I have been left with no choice but to let you all know that Caspar and I privately separated some time ago. We remain the closest of friend and have been successfully co-parenting with our sons best interest at heart. We are committed to protecting our family privacy and thank people in advance for respecting our wishes - we won’t be commenting further. Thank you.” She signed off with a kiss and a red heart emoji.
The state of Ellie and Caspar’s marriage was thrown into question this week when Ellie was photographed embracing a surfer on a very public beach. The singer was snapped in the arms of Armando Perez - a surf instructor who has taught international music icon Shakira how to surf in the past.
The Sun published photos and video of Ellie and Armando on a beach in Costa Rica. The pair were frolicking in the waves - and were also seen kissing each other, sparking marriage crisis fears. The following day, Caspar was snapped in London without his wedding ring on and looking very glum as he walked around the streets.
