Britney Spears was forced to apologise to those she'd 'offended' in her bombshell memoir, The Woman In Me.
The book, released last September, is bursting with revelations from her career and private life, including intimate details about her three-year relationship with fellow superstar Justin Timberlake. The chart-topping star has been a globally recognised name for more than 30 years since she first found fame starring on Disney's Mickey Mouse Club.
But her life in the limelight hasn't been without its flaws and she has very publicly faced her demons on more than one occasion. One of the biggest scandals to come from Britney's book was the 41-year-old pop star revealing that she fell pregnant with Justin Timberlake's child, but decided to have an abortion as he thought they were "too young" to have a baby.
Spears was 17 when she began dating Timberlake in 1999. She claims her then-boyfriend "wasn't happy" when she told him she was pregnant, and the abortion was a heartbreaking experience for the Crazy singer.
"Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young," she wrote in her memoir. Britney also writes that the procedure was "one of the most agonising things" she had ever experienced and twenty years later, she still remembers the pain.
Britney Spears 'selling $12million home' she bought with husband only months agoShe also told her readers that she was "messed up for a while" after the procedure but "still did love Justin so much". The starlet also shared her former boyfriend Justin split up with her over text, leaving her "devastated".
She said they had originally been "magnetic," but their relationship soon took a turn for the worst and in March 2002 the relationship was finished. She claimed that he dumped her with a brutal two-word text message, leaving her heartbroken.
Following the memoir release, she took to social media to say sorry if she "offended any of the people I genuinely care about". Later, she shared a clip of Justin singing on Saturday Night Live, adding: "I also wanted to say I am in love with Justin Timberlake's new song 'Selfish'. It is soo good and how come every time I see Justin and Jimmy together I laugh so hard?"
Just a few days later when he was performing a concert in New York, Justin appeared to make a dig at Britney. In a video recorded during the performance at the Irving Plaza, the singer could be heard telling the crowd: "I'd like to take this opportunity to apologise to absolutely f****** nobody."
Britney deleted her social media apologies, and then penned the cryptic message: "Someone told me someone was talking s*** about me on the streets!!! Do you want to bring it to the court or will you go home crying to your mom like you did last time??? I'm not sorry!!!"
