Amanda Holden has revealed the special tricks Simon Cowell relies on to keep looking fresh-faced, amid constant rumours he has a little help from plastic surgeons.

The Britain's Got Talent star, 52, joked that she likes to sit next to the music mogul when filming the ITV series thanks to big boss Simon getting "better lighting" from the technical team. Amanda and Simon are currently busy filming the 2024 offering of the long-running talent show with fellow judges Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli and hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

Speaking on her radio show this morning, following a police scare during yesterday's audition process, Amanda revealed Simon's secrets to Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara.

"I sit closer to Simon because he has special lighting," the Heart Breakfast presenter told Sofia, who appears alongside Simon on America's Got Talent. "I look 10 years younger," Amanda continued. "If you think it’s because I’m fond of Simon I’m not, it’s because he’s got better lighting."

However, Sofia was already aware of Simon's special lighting - revealing the exact same thing happens on the American version of the ITV talent show. Discussing the other benefits of sitting next to Simon on the panel, Amanda added: "Simon is brilliant, when you’re sitting next to him, I play games, we play doodle games, we play hangman, do you play any games with him to keep him entertained? Because he gets bored quick in the bits where we’re waiting for other talent to come on stage."

"No we usually fight…him and I… We have no time for playing, I have no idea what show you’re doing. There’s no playing around," Sofia replied. "We’re either fighting 'why do you have better lighting than me?' 'Why are they bringing you your drink faster than mine?' I’m just giving him a hard time."

Simon was forced to deny going under the knife after the opening episode of Britain's Got Talent last year, thanks to cheeky hosts Ant and Dec implying their boss was fond of a facelift. Introducing new judge Bruno Tonioli, Dec told the audience in March: "We have a new face joining the judging panel" to which Ant replied: "What? Simon has a new face?"

Addressing the Geordie duo's jibe, Simon went on to tell the Mirror: "I think it's hysterical. I mean, it just makes me laugh. I haven't had a facelift or anything. I've had a bit of Botox or whatever, but nothing drastic. So when I hear about this stuff, honestly it does make me laugh."

The next series of Britain's Got Talent is currently being filmed, with auditions taking place over the next few weeks in London and Manchester. Fans will have to tune in later this year to see if the ITV show's presenters Ant and Dec take another shot at Simon's ever-changing face.
