WHO Wants to be a Millionaire viewers were forced to 'mute' their TV over a contestant's annoying habit as the ITV show returned.

The star took over from original host Christ Tarrant when Who Wants to be a Millionaire was rebooted in 2018.

Sunday's episode saw contestant, Neil Montero in the hot seat.

But viewers were left groaning at their screens as they slammed him for being 'wordy'.

The contestant went on and on, explaining his every thought for each question, and it drove those at home watching nuts.

Some even said they had to 'mute' their TV.

Taking to X/Twitter, one wrote: "Come here to to tell him to get on with the answers for f*ck sake, but I can see I wasn't the only one thinking that."

A second complained: "Has to be the most annoying guy ever."

A third raged "My ears are bleeding."

A fourth fumed: "I’ve turned the sound off."

At the end, Neil was asked which team England had defeated in the men's FIFA finals tournament.

The correct answer was Argentina, but Neil mistakenly thought it was Spain.

He asked the audience for their input, and surprisingly, Spain ended up being the most popular answer among them.

But unfortunately that meant he lost a whopping £32,000 and walked away with just £8,000.
