A wedding guest was branded a 'creep' after attempting to give a waitress an 'alternative' tip that went horribly wrong. The unfortunate incident happened after a group of celebrants visited an Italian restaurant following the ceremony.

In a Reddit post, the user confessed: "Today my partner's brother got married, it was a quick ceremony followed by an early dinner at an Italian restaurant. There was a total of 16 of us and a crying baby. We showed up in a few small clumps with some of us being a tad late. One of the guests brought a homemade cake and our server was gracious enough to store it in the kitchen until we were ready for it."

The dinner went especially well and the American waitress made an effort to ensure that every diner was well looked after. They wrote: "We had an amazing time and although we were fairly loud our server was great the whole time and made sure we were all well taken care of. My partner's parents picked up the tab.

"Not knowing how much was tipped my partner gave her an extra $20, I had however had other plans on how to thank her." This involved handing over the woman a small bag of drugs, as they explained: "After the group had filtered out of the restaurant, I straddled up next to her and asked 'do you smoke weed?' she excitedly responded 'yes' and I slipped her a small silver pouch. She said, 'Omg you're amazing!'"

Pleased with themselves, they joked that they might have accidentally given the waitress a pack of heartburn relief tablets after their partner asked if they had given drugs to the staff as a tip. They added: "That morning at 6am, I had packed some weed in one pouch and Rolaids in the other.

"When I pulled the remaining pouch out I realized that I gave her the wrong pouch! We hadn't gone too far and could have returned and given her, her actual tip." The poster wondered if they were an "a*****e" for confusing the waitress who had just wonderfully served a big group of people? They added: "Ps - If you were our server don't eat all those Rolaids thinking they are edibles!"

More than a dozen people replied, with the majority sympathising with the accidental mix-up but questioning how they went about it. One wrote: "Not the a*****e, but you’re definitely the creep with some weird main character energy going on," while another said: "'I straddled up next to her' - I sincerely hope you meant 'sidled' up next to her ... but that really made me laugh out loud." Elsewhere, one user was blunt in their opinion and scolded: "Yes, you are the a*****e for not checking first."
