GOLFER and part-time delivery driver Joe Dean won a "life-changing" prize of £170,000 at the Kenya Open on Sunday.

Dean, who earned a spot on the DP World Tour through qualifying, finished joint-second behind Darius van Driel in Nairobi.

The British world No2930 carded a closing 67 to finish 12 under, putting him level with Spaniard Nacho Elvira.

Just a few days prior to the event, Dean was working as a part-time delivery driver for Morrisons supermarket.

After qualifying for the DP World Tour in 2023, the 29-year-old could not afford to compete.

He was unable to fund the cost of travel to participate so stayed in the UK to continue working as a delivery man.

Dean did not compete until the Qatar Open earlier this month, but he failed to make the cut and subsequently returned to his day job.

However, he raked in a huge £170k at the weekend.

The Sheffield golfer said: "It's got to be [life changing]. It's what people dream of.

"After the last three or four years I never thought I'd get another chance.

"Still some gremlins to get past in order to get to my full potential, but like anyone you've got to get over them, squash them and keep going.

"I've never been one of the most over-confident people - coming into this week was a bit daunting.

"Second event, you don't really feel like you belong and feel like you're trying to prove something.

"Luckily, I managed to get over that quickly and figure out how to get around the golf course."
