"A man was found wandering around the King’s private garden. He was arrested.

“The whole thing happened while the King was in residence.”

Another source confirmed to The Sun: “It’s understood the King was in residence at the time of the break-in, but was not in any danger.

“The intruder was not believed to be holding a weapon, and was alone.

"A sweep of the Castle grounds confirmed no-one else was involved."

A man who broke into Windsor Castle with a loaded crossbow to kill Queen Elizabeth in 2021 was sentenced to nine years in jail, with a further five years on extended licence.

Jaswant Singh Chail, 21, climbed into the castle grounds with the weapon on Christmas Day and later declared: “I’m here to kill the Queen.”
