ACTOR Leonardo DiCaprio has a priceless collection of original Star Wars toys.

He uses a pseudonym to bid for rare items online if they come on the market.

The obsession emerged after he splashed out on a rare poster for classic 1927 science-fiction film Metropolis, which inspired droid C-3PO in the Star Wars movies.

Oscar-winner Leo, 49, is understood to have around 80 figurines from the 1970s and 1980s.

They are still in their boxes and worth a fortune so he keeps them under lock and key.

A source said: “Leo is a huge Star Wars fan.

“He grew up watching the films and loves collecting anything to do with the original movies.

“Fans on dedicated sites would be gobsmacked to know the man bidding for rare items at auction when they come on the market is actually a Hollywood legend.

“Leo’s collection is worth an absolute fortune.

“But when you have the kind of money he has, it’s a lot more understandable.”

But despite his passion for the franchise, Leonardo turned down the part of Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequels because he “didn’t feel ready to take that dive”.
