NEXT Level Chef viewers have blasted the latest elimination as 'criminally unjust'.

The brand new cooking programme aired its next instalment on Wednesday night.

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay fronts the series which sees 12 aspiring chefs face a cooking competition like no other.

He's also joined by his two mentors, Paul Ainsworth and Nyesha Arrington, who help the hopefuls.

With just 10 contestants left in the show the latest episode saw the chefs face burger week.

However, Layla locked horns with Nyesha when she chose to go against her advice and cook her chips her own way.

During a frosty exchange with the pair, Nyesha snapped as she told her: "If I may finish my sentence? I love your voice, I celebrate your voice but I'm also here to see you win."

Nyesha warned the contestant if she chose to ignore her advice it might land her in trouble.

Ultimately it did as Layla landed herself in the dreaded cook-off and was then eliminating after failing to impress.

However, viewers at home have blasted the show as they called Layla's axe an "injustice".

Taking to social media, one said: "Sorry the injustice of who got sent home on next level chef makes me SO SAD."

Another posted: "What a criminal decision."

"If her mentor had have left #layla alone with her plantain crisps not chips she’d have been alright," said a third.

While a fourth commented: "That mentor really doesn't like Layla, just because she didn't do her plantain chips the way she wanted her to do them. The chicken burger wasn't even mentioned in the taster."

Next Level Chef continues next Wednesday from 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
