MICHAEL McIntyre has given an update on his health after emergency surgery forced him to cancel a stand-up show.

Now his team has provided an update on social media platform X revealing when he will return to the stage.

It read: "Michael McIntyre has had successful surgery to remove kidney stones and is recovering well. He has been medically cleared to perform in Nottingham on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and is very excited to get back on stage."

Fans rejoiced with one commenting: "That’s great news! Thanks for letting us know. Best wishes for the shows."

Michael missed a second date on his Magnificent World Tour last week in Plymouth due to illness.

Prior to his axed Southampton gig, a statement read: "We regret to inform customers that Michael McIntyre will be unable to perform on Monday 4 March at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton.

"Unfortunately, Michael has had an operation to remove kidney stones.

"The show will be rescheduled to a later date which will be announced shortly. Tickets will remain valid for the new date. If you are unable to make the new date you will be entitled to a refund.

"We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused."

The funnyman will perform for three nights at Nottingham's Motorpoint Arena from Friday to Sunday.

He then has more upcoming dates this month in Newcastle and Manchester.

The comedian and presenter, who is best known for hosting Michael McIntyre's Big Show and the game show The Wheel on the BBC, recently revealed a very unusual phobia in a chat with the Sun.

He has developed a fear of apples, officially known as malusdomesticaphobia, after going on a weight loss retreat.

He explained: “I went to this place called the Mayr Clinic (in Austria) and lost quite a bit of weight, which I kept off for a little while.

“Apparently apples will make me very lethargic and confused in my brain.

“It’s the only thing I’ve taken from it, really.

“I mean, I’ve put all the weight back on but I’ve got this real fear of apples, which are actually really good for you."
