At the time, police charged the then-15-year-old with terrorism and murder after four students lost their lives.

On October 24, 2022, Crumbley returned to court to enter a new plea.
He ultimately pleaded guilty to 24 felony charges including terrorism and first-degree premeditated murder.
Crumbley's parents, James and Jennifer Crumbley, were also charged in connection to the school shooting.
Jennifer stood trial in January 2024, and on February 6, a jury found her guilty of involuntary manslaughter for her role in the shooting.
She is facing up to 15 years in jail.
James has also been charged with involuntary manslaughter, and his trial began on March 5, 2024.
A jury was finalized and seated on March 6 and opening statements are scheduled for March 7.

On October 24, 2023, Crumbley pleaded guilty to 24 charges of murder and terrorism.
On December 8 of the same year, Crumbley was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
"I am a really bad person, I have done terrible things that no one should ever do," he said during his sentencing hearing, via ABC News.
On December 12, 2023, Crumbley began serving out his life sentence at Thumb Correctional Facility in Michigan, according to ABC12 News.
