Pregnant Sian Welby has confessed she is finding giving up alcohol “so much harder than I ever expected”.
The 37-year-old Capital Radio and sometimes This Morning presenter is expecting her first child with husband-to-be Jake Beckett, who is a producer at the station. The loved up pair, who got engaged last year, are currently on holiday in Tenerife after jetting off following host Roman Kemp’s departure from the show.
Giving fans a glimpse into their sunshine break while it rains at home, Sian – who is now seven months pregnant - took to Instagram to jokingly post a picture of Jake drinking a glass of white wine, but the camera angle made it look as though the glass was as big as his head. She captioned the post: “Not drinking on his holiday is so much harder than I expected.”
Drinking during or while you’re trying to get pregnant is not recommended by the NHS to keep any risk to the baby to a minimum. Drinking alcohol can lead to long-term to the baby and the more you drink, the greater the risk.

The first time mum excitedly told listeners: “I’ve got a bit of an announcement for you! I’m pregnant! I don’t know how I’ve managed to keep it from you for so long. The lies, the deceit, the mocktails! I couldn’t wait to tell you. This is a whole new journey for me and I want to take you all on it with me, and don't worry I'm not going anywhere! This is going to be a lot of fun and I can’t wait to share it with you all.”

Reacting to the news, Sian’s co-hosts Roman Kemp said “Oh my god! Oh mate I’m so happy for you and Jake as well!” and Chris Stark said: “Is this real? It is the most exciting news ever!”
Sian shared the news with her followers by sharing an adorable selection of pictures showing her journey with fiancé Jake so far. She wrote: "We have some news," and added: "We're having a baby."
She revealed she was engaged last August with a cute snap showing off her ring after Jake got down on one knee during a holiday in Greece. Sharing more of her happy news on social media, Sian wrote: "Genuinely didn't see this coming. For once I am totally speechless. I didn't think it mattered until he asked me, and then suddenly it meant everything. Love you Jakey x 15.8.23." Sian will take a break during the summer but will return to Capital Breakfast with , Chris Stark and Sian Welby later in the year.
