Brits planning UK holidays this summer may want to consider a day out on a gorgeous beach right by one of Britain's most popular seaside resorts.
Bournemouth has long been a firm favourite with holidaymakers for its pier, nightlife and large sandy shores, but there's actually a lesser-known stretch of beach about half an hour's drive away that's well worth having on your radar.
Hengistbury Head Beach isn't exactly a hidden gem, but it's often overlooked by tourists who head straight to Bournemouth beach instead. However, a new study by Cinch found that it's one of the UK's 20 best beaches for spring thanks to its average temperatures, Instagram-worthy credentials, and facilities such as parking and fish and chip shops in the area.
The picturesque spot - which is a mix of shingle and sand - took ninth spot in the rankings, and it's not difficult to see why. There are shallow waters that are ideal for paddling, beautiful clifftop scenery you won't want to miss (although don't get too close to the cliffs due to the risk of rockfall), and smaller crowds compared to some of the area's famous hotspots.
There's also a cafe and visitor centre, although holidaymakers are warned that there are no lifeguards on duty on the beach. Oh, and dog owners will no doubt be happy to learn that pooches are allowed on the beach all year, although they do need to be kept on a lead.

In fact, plenty of happy holidaymakers revealed that the beach's beautiful surroundings made for a memorable staycation. One person explained: "If you want to get out and about in the fresh air, this is the place to go and on the plus side it is very dog friendly. On a clear day it has a great view of the area."
Another added: "Amazing views on a sunny day! Perfect for a nice family/dog walk! We came here last weekend and the sun was shining. Walked along down to Mudeford and back up along the beach in a circular route. They have dog water available along the walk which is such a lovely touch! Stopped for a Pimms & pizza (although queues & wait times are usually long)! Can hop on a boat to Christchurch too! We will be back."
A third noted: "Great walks with spectacular views. Take the opportunity to explore this area from either end maybe cross from the Mudeford end on the ferry or vice versa, plenty of parking. Great part of the country to visit."
