Chelsea have the second youngest squad among Europe's top five leagues.

The Blues have an average age of 23.7 after overhauling their squad in the summer. The likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, 32, Edouard Mendy, 32, N'Golo Kante, 33, Cesar Azpilicueta, 34, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, 34, all departed for Mauricio Pochettino's first season in charge of the Blues.

In their place arrived a spate of players aged 21 or under including the likes of Deivid Washington, Romeo Lavia, Lesley Ugochukwu and Cole Palmer, with the west London's side incoming signings averaging an age of 20.5. Signing young players has been a clear priority for Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, who have spent in excess of £1billion.

Chelsea currently have just two players older than 30 in their squad, Thiago Silva and Marcus Bettinelli. Only Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling are added to the list looking at players 27 or older.

It is perhaps little surprise to see fellow BlueCo club RC Strasbourg also make the list. They sit two places below Chelsea with an average of 24 for their squad. The French side are currently home to two Blues teenagers in the shape of Brazilian youngsters Angelo Gabriel and Andrey Santos.

Ligue 1 dominates the list with six clubs among the top 10. The division is also home to the youngest side across Europe's top five leagues in the shape of Toulouse. Goalkeeper Guillaume Restes is their most notable young star with the 19-year-old being a regular in the team having graduated from the B side in the summer.

The division's top sides have also made their presence felt. PSG lead Ligue 1 with Warren Zaire-Emery and Bradley Barcola earning considerable minutes. Monaco sit third and in contention for a Champions League spot with the likes of Eliesse Ben Seghir, Kassoum Ouattara and Soungoutou Magassa also beginning to earn minutes, while Kevin Volland is one just three players older than 30.

No other league has more than one side in the list as the Premier League, Serie A, La Liga and the Bundesliga each have a representative.
