Love Island viewers received worrying news on Instagram on Thursday morning as Dr Alex George appeared on the social media platform in a hospital gown after his tonsillitis got out of hand again.
The TV star, who rose to fame in 2018 in the fourth series of the ITV2 reality show, shared a selfie in A&E, mere days after leaving hospital for a fever and swelling, where he can be seen holding out his phone in front of him, a weary smile on his face as he announced in a worrying update that his health was on the line due to his throat was "swelling up and getting worse".
"Spirit feels a bit broken writing this but sadly I had to come back to A&E this morning, throat was swelling up and getting worse", the 33-year-old penned.
He quickly assured his followers and said that his "breathing is ok but that's always the big worry." In another candid admission, Alex George then admitted that he was severely sleep-deprived, captioning: "Really want to be positive but I haven’t slept in a week, hardly eaten with pain and fevers."
"I know there are so many worse off than me and I am doing my best to be grateful and positive", Alex concluded before thanking the staff taking care of him at London's St Thomas' Hospital. "The doctors and nurses have been so kind and caring, thank you. Just got to roll with punches now and I will be better soon."

The setback follows another trip to A&E for Alex George as he lifted the lid on his nightmarish Easter weekend mere days ago and confessed he had been suffering from unbearable pains, swelling and a fever due to tonsillitis.
"So Easter didn’t go so well. I was hoping to do a March photo dump today but here we are", he let his fans know on Tuesday (April 2, 2024).
"Last few days I have had tonsillitis with fevers, but yesterday the swelling around my tonsil went crazy and the pain was very bad. I was hoping it wouldn’t get worse but at midnight last night, it was too much and could hardly swallow so I went to St Thomas A&E."
Alex's trip to hospital brought back old memories as he then admitted he had "nearly died of sepsis" several years ago. "If it were not for the incredible care of the doctors and nurses I wouldn’t be here", he penned.
Hours after breaking the mortifying news, Alex was transferred to Guy's Hospital in London and was discharged soon after as he snapped another picture outside the establishment with his thumb held up.
