A mum has been arrested after a drink she made for her son's bully landed him in hospital, police say.

Jennifer Lynn Rossi, 45, is said to have mixed lemon juice, vinegar, salt and Gatorade in a sports bottle on Tuesday and then told her son to give it to a classmate who had stolen his drink the day before, according to an arrest warrant affidavit seen by ABC News' San Antonio affiliate KSAT. This occurred at Legacy Traditional School - Alamo Ranch, about 20 miles northwest of downtown San Antonio, Texas.

"Upon arriving to the school, deputies learned that the sick child was given a drink by a classmate during P.E. class," said the Bexar County Sheriff's Office in their statement about what happened. Not long after the child drank the drink, he reportedly started feeling sick and getting a headache and was taken to a hospital, said the sheriff officials.

"Although, the contents of the drink were non-toxic, the incident resulted in a child being hospitalised," Bexar County Sheriff's Office said in their statement. "Hospital staff informed the investigator that the child victim required additional medical monitoring and would eventually be discharged from the hospital."

During the investigation, it came out that the mum of the student who gave the drink "intentionally mixed the contents of the drink to allegedly prevent her son's drink from being stolen at school by other students," officials said.

Rossi was arrested and taken to jail where she was charged with injury to a child causing bodily injury. The investigation into what happened is ongoing.

Meanwhile, just days ago, another protective mum found herself behind bars in her enthusiasm as well. Brandi Gotch, 30, from Peoria, Arizona, took a wild drive through a local park in the Phoenix suburb, which is located just 13 miles northwest of the city centre, allegedly chasing, beating, grabbing and even running over some local teens who she believes were the ones responsible for bullying her child.

Throughout the ordeal, which happened on Feb. 27, according to Fox 10 in Phoenix, Gotch could reportedly be heard yelling: "I am going to kill you and run you over."

The 30-year-old mother allegedly saw the teens fighting with her children and got into a confrontation with them at Westgreen Park near 87th Avenue and Butler Drive. She reportedly chased one with a stick, grabbed another by the hair and then got into her pickup truck.

She then drove recklessly through the park, hitting one child and running over their leg, it has been claimed. When the police tracked her down to her home and interviewed her and took her into custody, she reportedly admitted to driving her truck through the park but said she didn't believe she had actually hit anyone.
