PASSENGERS had to be evacuated from a United Airlines flight on Friday after shocking video showed the plane tilted on its side.

Onlookers panicked as the plane's left wing touched the ground at George Bush International Airport in Houston, Texas.

A spokesperson said everyone was deplaned safely and no injuries were reported.

Passengers were spotted getting on an airport bus on the tarmac.

United Airlines Flight 2477 from Memphis, Tennessee, rolled onto the grass while leaving onto the taxiway, said the Federal Aviation Administration.

There were 160 passengers and six crew members on board the Boeing 737 Max 8, said United.

"Around 8 a.m. today, a United Airlines flight landed on a runway at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). As it was exiting the runway for the gate, the aircraft left the pavement and entered the grass along Runway 9-27," said United in a statement.

"Fortunately, no one on board was injured and all passengers were safely transported to the terminal."

The FAA was informed of the incident as part of federal regulation.

Janet Bumbarger, a passenger on the flight, told NBC affiliate KPRC-TV that the landing was smooth, however, as the plane was taxiing, they felt bumps.

"Felt like when you have a flat tire in a car," she said.

The news comes as United has dealt with several incidents this month, all involving Boeing jets.

On March 4, United Flight 1118 from Houston to Fort Myers, Florida, suffered an engine fire.

On March 7, United Flight 35 from San Francisco, California, to Japan had a wheel fall off right after takeoff.

Also on March 7, the National Transportation Safety Board revealed it was investigating a United Airlines jet after a pedal became "stuck" during landing on Flight 1539 from Nassau, Bahamas to Newark, New Jersey.
