THE Oscars has been put on high alert as protesters are expected to try to block stars from reaching the red carpet tonight.

Around 2,000 security officers are set to form a ring of steel around the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles to keep stars including Margot Robbie and Emma Stone safe.

Senior officers have confirmed they are aware of efforts to “stop, disrupt and blockade” — with one threat centred on campaigners storming the stage.

The LA Police Department has also beefed up its presence to “ensure minimal impact on the event”, amid protests supporting both sides of the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

A spokesman said: “We are bolstering security to prevent disruptions by demonstrators.

“We are going to ensure the safe arrival and entry of guests into the Oscars venue, alongside maintaining a safe environment for the event.

“We anticipate potential blockades near the Dolby Theatre and are prepared to manage such scenarios effectively, ensuring minimal impact on the event.”

The star-studded ceremony will be attended by Irish actor Cillian Murphy, 47, who is the bookies’ favourite to take home the Best Actor award for his role in Oppenheimer.

Emma Stone, 35, is set to scoop the Best Actress prize for her performance in Poor Things.

The Best Picture gong is also set to be awarded to Oppenheimer.
A-listers including Zendaya, Al Pacino and Ariana Grande will present awards.

Meanwhile, producers have promised “surprise cameos” on the night, but one of the highlights will be Ryan Gosling’s performance.

The Barbie actor, 43, will sing I’m Just Ken, nominated for Best Original Song, and will be accompanied by 65 male dancers.

The bash will be hosted by talk show host Jimmy Kimmel and air on ITV with a 10.15pm warm-up show hosted by Jonathan Ross.
