Arsenal stars were told, "They've checked it!" after furiously insisting that a last-gasp penalty should have been awarded in Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich.

Gunners stars were incensed after Bukayo Saka was apparently brought down by Manuel Neuer late on in their quarter-final first leg, with referee Glenn Nyberg refusing to award a spot-kick.

The Arsenal stars were not prepared to take no for an answer and argued with the Swedish match official, but he stuck to his guns, reminding them that he wasn't alone in making the decision.

Arsenal took the lead through Saka in just the 12th minute in front of a one-sided Emirates stadium after Bayern fans were banned from travelling to north London to support their team.

But Bayern hit back through former Gunner Serge Gnabry, who levelled the scores just six minutes later. Tottenham legend Harry Kane then put the Bundesliga giants in front.

The England international scored from the penalty spot, sending David Raya the wrong way and giving his side the advantage, and it took Arsenal until the second half to respond.

But respond they did through super-sub Leonadro Trossard, who came off the bench to level the scores for the second time on the night.

Saka thought he'd have a chance to put Arsenal in the lead with what would have been the final kick of the game after he went down under a challenge from Neuer in the area.

But the Gunners will have to wait until the second leg at the Allianz Arena to take the advantage in this quarter-final tie.
