Natasha Bedingfield opened up about her difficult pregnancy with her son Solomon.

The Pocketful of Sunshine singer, 42, shares six-year-old Solomon with her husband Matt Robinson - whom she married in 2009. The star had a 'horrible' pregnancy and believes it was due to prenatal depression. Her experience was made more difficult as she was busy touring with Train at the time.

During an appearance on Sophie Ellix-Bextor's podcast Spinning Plates, she said: "I had a horrible pregnancy, but there is something called prenatal depression. I think I had that, or it was just so horrible to tour pregnant. I was so sick and I was so nauseous and I was opening for Train and I was so car sick and we were on and off the bus and it just didn't work."

She added: "My husband was home in LA and I phoned him and was like: 'I need you out here' and he thought I was looking great because you do when you are pregnant. Because I had the glow, but I didn't feel the glow. That was the first time I understood how hormones can make someone feel depressed."

"That female hormone that came in when I was pregnant was probably a bit of a shock to the system. But after I had the baby I immediately felt better." Prenatal depression can affect around 20% of expecting mothers. Some symptoms include an unusual amount of worry about giving birth and parenthood, lack of energy and disturbed sleep.

Those affected by prenatal depression can also lose interest in themselves and their pregnancy, feel emotionally detached or angry, suffer from chronic anxiety and more. Last month, Natasha and Murder on the Dancefloor singer Sophie sent fans wild when they teased them with an impromptu music collaboration.

The singers caught up with each other - and basked in their renewed popularity. Taking to Instagram last month, Natasha shared a video of her and Sophie singing together. They laughed together and made mash-up renditions of their tracks Unwritten and Murder on the Dancefloor. Sharing the clip on her main feed, Natasha added a caption: “When your song is trending and so is your friends.”

She also wrote: “There’s been a Murder on The Dance Floor and the rest is still Unwritten.” The clip showed the pair complementing each other and hitting impressive notes - while fans were absolutely thrilled by the appearance of the two music icons in one video.

Sophie’s husband, Richard Jones of the chart-topping band The Feeling, wrote: “Love this so much,” alongside a string of red heart emojis.
