SPOTIFY users are fuming after the streaming giant notified them of a subscription price hike starting next month.

Brits have already been stung by bill increases for mobile, broadband and TV this month.

Now music fans will have to fork out up to £24 extra per year for Spotify Premium.

"Are you serious?" one user wrote on X.

"Spotify doesn’t stop going up in price!" another said.

"Spotify's price is going up so I might be jumping ship to Apple Music soon," a third person threatened.

Subscribers on a Duo or Family saver plan will now have to pay an extra £2 per month.

Family - which allows up to six listeners - will now cost £19.99, up from £17.99.

While Duo - for two people - rockets from £14.99 to £16.99.

Individual accounts will see their bill rise by £1 each month, now costing £11.99.

In an email to subscribers, Spotify said it needed to hike prices to "continue to invest in and innovate our product offerings and features".

Among those investments in recent years is the introduction of audiobooks.

Spotify has also been spending big on podcasts, notably paying an estimated £18million on a deal with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle that yielded only 12 episodes and a “holiday special” in 31 months.

The streaming giant - which has more than 236million premium subscribers across the globe - last increased prices in July.

Spotify is giving users one month's notice of the change.

So the surged price will land in May or June depending on your billing date.
