A groom-to-be fell victim to a vicious stag do prank in which he was led to believe he had been kidnapped at gunpoint by masked special force militants - and now the ordeal has gone viral.

Footage shared on X, which was Twitter, shows a group of men peer at a mobile phone camera and then man filming it, give a thumbs up to the camera. They follow their masked groom as he is led away by two men dressed in all black clothing and balaclavas hiding their faces.

The groom is heard shouting: "I'm sorry... I'm getting married" as he's led away, hands tied behind his back, by the men. He shouts to his friend and, the man recording the confrontation, is heard saying: "I'm here bro, I'm here bro".

Expletives are directed at the groom and other men, at which point the groom is heard apologising repeatedly. The balaclava-clad men demand the groom - and his friends - get on their knees, at which point they shout at the despairing groom and order him to tell them "where his cocaine is".

"I've never taken cocaine in the whole of my life," the desperate groom is heard to whine, as one of the man pats him on the back of the neck and the other bangs two plastic bottles together. The groom appears to be close to tears as one man pulls out what appears to be a Taser gun - and place it beside the groom's face. His despairing pleas for mercy become louder as the clip, which is more than two minutes long, reaches a conclusion.

The man is hit several times with what seems to be a whip and another weapon as his mate recording says: "We will get a good solicitor, we will sort this out". Another pal behind the groom is seen trying to contain his laughter. "I can't swim. I'm just getting married, please," the groom says.

In a separate clip, also plastered on social media, the mask is seen being taken from the groom's face - and his huge relief is clear to see. He's hugged by his friends but the bespectacled groom struggles to muster a laughter - or even a smile - at the joke.

It is unclear where the stag do happened though it appears the clip, viewed by more than 1.3million people, was recorded somewhere with a warm climate as sunny skies are seen in the background. It is also unclear where the friends are from, although Irish accents can be heard in the video.

It has been blasted by viewers on X, some of whom have urged the groom "to get other friends". One shared: "F****** brutal mates these." Another posted: "Where’s the fun in that? Seriously everyone likes a laugh but that’ll spoil his trip."

A third X user, seemingly preparing for his own stag do, directed his message at his best man, writing: "This would be too far." Another said: "What’s funny about that?" One social media comment reads: "There will potentially be life-long trauma from that. Certainly not friends!" Another reads: "That's not a prank, get your self new mates pal."
