King Henry VIII has been ‘pictured’ with steak bake pastries from the future, proving time travel is possible, claimed some social media users.

They were convinced that a historic image of the king taken during the 16th century shows him with couple of Greggs steak bakes before he had his portrait painted. 'X' user Luke noticed the Greggs snack in one of the former king’s iconic images and it looks like he is wearing shoes similar to one of the bakery's’ most popular snacks.

He wrote: “Why do Henry VIII’s shoes look like a Greggs steak bake?” After making the discovery, the bakery chain replied and was delighted with Luke's finding.

A spokesman replied: “Losing our heads over this.”

Other users joined in on the pastry discovery and later corrected Luke to claim that the bake pictured was in fact a cheese and onion pastry, The Express reports.

The likelihood of Henry VIII using time travel to take advantage of the pastry was debated among social media users.

One user of the social media platform joked that wearing pastries was how “nobles kept their feet warm”.

He posted: “It was how the nobles kept their feet warm, there was no central heating back then. Commoners had to make do with a raw turnip shoe.”

Greggs recently declared that its sausage rolls were sold at an incredible rate of five a second. A calculation which claimed 145million pastries are sold every year.

But few know if the snacks were purchased from Henry VIII travelling forward in time. The second Tudor monarch ruled from April 21, 1509 until he died on January 28, 1547. He is widely known for his six marriages and his long search to produce a male heir.

Henry VIII’s father, Henry VII was renowned for putting an end to the War of the Roses by defeating Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth Field on August 22, 1485.

The Mirror told earlier how Greggs customers have been losing their baked goods to greedy crows as the birds became experts on how to dive-bomb a sausage roll.

Residents in Twickenham, London were warned by concerned citizen Ricky Craig Pound, who said the big birds had developed sneaky habits. One woman nearly had her face scratched when a crow tore bacon from her sarnie and a boy was in tears when others swooped in.

Taking to Facebook, he wrote: “A word of warning to anybody who eats food whilst on the go in the centre of Twickenham. On four occasions recently I have been attacked by crows from the back trying to get food from my hand.

"This is particularly prevalent in Church Street and near Greggs. I have heard from one local business that this is becoming a real problem in the last few months. If it happened to a child this would really scare them. Not sure what the answer is but I will be contacting the council.”
