Dominic Solanke admitted the Bournemouth players were "not happy" after Manchester United held them to a draw on Saturday - claiming wins over them are something they "love to do".

The Cherries twice led against the Red Devils, who needed two Bruno Fernandes goals to leave the south coast with a point. Solanke continued his impressive campaign as he scored the opening goal at the Vitality Stadium to give Bournemouth hope of securing a memorable double.

They secured a stunning 3-0 victory at Old Trafford back in December and were eyeing another victory over United. Late VAR drama denied them a penalty but the Cherries' rise - and the fall of the Red Devils - were summed up by Solanke's disappointment post-match.

He said: "We're not happy. Beating Man United is something we love to do. The boys aren't happy." Bournemouth are sat in mid-table whilst the draw means Erik ten Hag's side lose more ground on the sides around them, who are also chasing European football.

Bournemouth lost both games against United last term as they narrowly avoided the drop, but this year are a much-improved outfit and caused the visitors numerous problems. Newcastle's win over Tottenham allowed them to leapfrog United, whose struggles continue.

Ten Hag confessed that dropping points at the business end of the campaign is a major issue, but didn't feel they deserved to return north with anything more than a draw.

He said: "This result is not enough. We know that. We know when you're coming into the final stage of the season, this is not enough. And the truth is, today, we didn't deserve more. If you allow them so many chances in the first half, then as a team, you don't deserve more. You have to take control. Don't allow them the chances. Take control of the game and score goals for yourself.

"We, in this moment, with all the problems we have, we play to our levels and we can play very good (sic) to our levels. But you have to do it over the course of the game until stoppage time. In the last four games, we drop points where we often were in winning positions. Not today. We were in losing positions and we fought back."

United's next outing is at Wembley against Coventry City in the semi-finals of the FA Cup. That remains the club's only hopes of landing silverware as they also chase a spot in Europe for next season.
