Keir's enslavement to every passing socialist fad deserves close scrutiny

VOTERS have learned a lot in a few days about the way Sir Keir Starmer will run a Labour government.

It makes for an alarming study.

First, there was his stonewalling over Deputy Leader Angela Rayner’s rank hypocrisy.

Sir Keir is thin-skinned and bridles at criticism.

“Don’t play games with me,” he snapped at reporters who dared ask if Rayner actually lived in the council house she later sold for a £48,500 profit.

Then came the shocking report by Dr Hilary Cass into transgender mutilation, which revealed how disastrously wrong he was to insist that women can have penises.

The row over Rayner’s house-flipping by itself is petty politics.

It could have been sorted in a flash by some of the honesty Angie demands from so-called “Tory scum”.

But together these events reveal Labour’s arrogance and contempt for the voters who risk handing Starmer an unassailable majority at the next election.

Labour’s manipulation of the truth deserves close scrutiny.

So does its enslavement to every passing socialist fad, from diversity, inclusion and equality to surgically attempting to turn boys into girls.

Wednesday’s bombshell report by Dr Cass into transgender brainwashing exposes Labour’s appetite for meddling in every nook and cranny of our daily lives — and getting it wrong.

“There are few other areas of healthcare where professionals are so afraid to openly discuss their views, where people are vilified on social media, and where name-calling echoes the worst bullying behaviour. This must stop,” said Dr Cass.

It is a view already reached by the majority of British people appalled by the impact of trans activists on our hospitals, prisons, women’s refuges, women’s sport and wider society.

Spurious claim

Nothing has been more corrosive than the spurious claim that men and women can change sex simply by saying so.

I want my girlfriend to try dirty talk but she won't do itI want my girlfriend to try dirty talk but she won't do it

Yet this blatant nonsense has been backed by Labour politicians including Keir Starmer himself.

Ahead of Dr Cass’s damning review, Starmer had gone silent on his view that women can have a penis.

He remains silent still.

In Labour’s world, the state always knows best

Thanks to this monstrous deceit, backed by the NHS, vulnerable adolescents have been victims of irreversible butchery in the name of gender reassignment.

Many in Starmer’s party not only backed this barbarism but trashed anyone who had the courage to condemn it, including one of their own MPs, Rosie Duffield, for hate crime.

In Labour’s world, the state always knows best.

Even Wes Streeting, the brightest star in Labour’s lacklustre galaxy, went along with this vile tripe.

Interviewed on The Sun’s Never Mind The Ballots, he confessed he was wrong to have insisted “a trans woman is a woman . . . get over it”.

Streeting’s honesty is refreshing.

Yet untold damage has been done to the victims of this great medical scandal and to the hard-won battle for women’s rights.

The transgender debate is just one of the socially divisive and misguided issues backed by the likely next government.

Under Starmer, Labour is determined to hit the Net Zero carbon emission goal by 2050 at any cost.

That means squandering trillions, wrecking the economy and inflicting mass poverty.

Cash-strapped voters are refusing to buy costly and inefficient heat pumps.

And they can’t afford expensive electric cars, which opens the door to cheap Chinese imports which might one day be used as remote control enemy weapons.

Yes, we need to clean up our act, but not through ideological extremism imposed at enormous cost against the will of the people.

Sir Keir now has a tiger by the tail.

He has promised Net Zero and has encouraged Just Stop Oil protesters to block roads and motorways in pursuit of his goal.

Think very carefully

Now these spoiled brats have morphed into pro-Gaza activists calling themselves Youth Demand.

Last week, they sprayed Labour HQ with red paint in protest against the party’s support for Israel — Sir Keir’s only principled stand so far.

Once in office, Starmer will discover he has no more control over such events than hapless PM Rishi Sunak.

The Tories may have blown it.

They may deserve to be punished.

The May 2 local elections might give them a kicking.

But disgruntled Tory voters should think very carefully before deciding to sit on their hands for the big one in October or waste their vote on Reform.
