Brits are set for snow mixed with heavy rain and strong winds over the weekend as wintry conditions return.
It was a mild Thursday up and down the country but overnight temperatures will drop and there will be plenty of blustery showers.
The Met Office has a yellow warning in place for strong winds in northern and central Scotland which could runs until 10am and could see gusts reaching 70mph.
It states: “High winds will cause travel disruption and bring difficult driving conditions, especially on exposed bridges, causeways and higher routes.”
It continues: “Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely. Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely. Some short term loss of power and other services is possible. It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves.”

The outlook is for heavy rain and wind overnight going into Friday (wxcharts.com)It will also be close to zero on Friday morning in Scotland but over the weekend it will get colder with most areas in lower single figures.
Wintry showers will also bring snow in northern parts of the UK with several centimetres set to fall on Sunday morning, according to maps from WXCharts.
The indication is that it will get colder still by mid January where there could be up to 25 centimetres falling in Scotland and flurry in northern England.
BBC weather forecaster Darren Bett said: "We’ve got this strong and blustery wind, that’s going to feed in some sunshine but we are also going to find quite a few showers, some of those are going to be heavy and it is just about cold enough for a little bit of snow over the tops of the mountains."

Looking ahead he said: "Our area of low pressure is likely to pass to the north west of the UK as we move through Saturday night into Sunday.
"Lots of isobars squeezing together on this chart, that implies some quite strong and gusty winds and there will be frequent showers on Sunday, some heavy with hail and thunder. Perhaps wintry in the north because it will be a little chillier by this stage 7C to 9C but that is not unusual for this time of year."

Saturday:
A band of cloud and rain, at times heavy, will clear east followed by a mixture of sunshine and blustery showers. Windy with temperatures a little lower than of late.

Sunshine and blustery showers (hail in heaviest ones) Sunday and Monday, the latter most frequent in the west. Milder with more widespread rain Tuesday, perhaps not reaching the far north.
