A prolific YouTube prankster has been banned from racecourses after he gatecrashed the Cheltenham Festival.

Daniel 'Jarvo' Jarvis from Gravesend in Kent, the self-styled ‘Greatest Prankster on Earth’, has made his name from his stunts. These range from barging into England’s Jonny Bairstow after running onto the Lord's pitch dressed in cricket whites and bowling a ball during a Test match against India to invading the South Africa celebrations after winning the Rugby World Cup.

He also claimed to have pranked the Champions League draw four months ago when sex noises could be heard in the background - having performed a similar work on Match of the Day, much to the chagrin of presenter Gary Lineker.

One of his latest stunts was to get into the winners' enclosure after last month’s Cheltenham Gold Cup wearing a top made of the green and gold colours of J P McManus.

He posted a picture on X, which said: “Me in the winning enclosure, I have now won the Cheltenham Gold Cup!!!!”

In response, and ahead of last week’s Grand National, the BHA took action to prevent a repeat by issuing Jarvis, who has more than 200,000 subscribers to his Youtube channel and nearly 500,000 followers on Facebook, with a banning order.

In September 2022 Jarvis was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for two years, at Croydon Magistrates Court for aggravated trespass by entering the field of play during England’s innings at Lord’s in 2021. After making his way onto the field, he attempted to bowl at Ollie Pope but went onto collide with the non-striker Jonny Baristow. Jarvis defended himself, telling court he never intended to disrupt the match.

In addition District Judge Daniel Benjamin issued a two year exclusion requirement, until October 2024, under which he was not to enter or be within any premises or land in England and Wales “used for a sporting fixture open to paying spectators during the sporting fixture, the hour before the scheduled start time of the fixture, and the hour after the fixture concludes”.

The BHA has reported the alleged breach to police.

Jarvis has been asked for comment.
