LOVE Rat follows a woman who is swept off her feet by a handsome millionaire on holiday.

Playing one of the lead roles in this Channel 5 drama is Gerald Kyd.

Who is Love Rat star Gerald Kyd?

Born in South Africa in 1973, Gerald Kyd is a half-Greek, half-Scottish actor.

In Channel 5's Love Rat he plays hotelier Niko, who sweeps divorcee Emma off her feet.

Speaking to Radio Times about his character Gerald said: "He's a very charming man who draws Emma into his world, where she falls deeply in love with him.

"He gets her to a position where she is completely at his mercy, so to speak, and she might live to regret it.

"Initially, I suppose he plays into that old trope about the Mediterranean Lothario, but there's a lot more depth there."

What other shows has Gerald Kyd starred in?

Away from Love Rat, actor Gerald is best known for playing Sean Maddox in BBC One's Casualty.

He held the role from 1998 to 2000, and again in 2006.

The talented star also starred in season three of BBC drama The Split, where he had a recurring role.

He also appeared in Cold Feet as Roger Muir, Deep Water and Harlots.

Other TV shows Gerald has starred in include Silent Witness, Doctor Who, and Sherlock.

On the big screen, the actor starred alongside Angelina Jolie in the 2003 film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life.

What is Love Rat about?

Love Rat follows mum-of-one Emma (Sally Lindsay), who has recently divorced her husband.

When she takes a solo holiday to Cyprus she meets a charismatic hotelier called Niko and romance blossoms.

Her new lover then asks Emma to start a life with him on the island.

But after she loans Niko her life savings, he disappears with the funds and she realises she has been conned.

Crews headed to Cyprus in 2022 to film Love Rat.

The series started on March 11, 2024, and is playing out over four consecutive nights on Channel 5.

Each episode airs at 9pm and will conclude on Thursday, March 14, 2024.

Viewers can also watch the series on the streaming service, All 5.
