Everton defender James Tarkowski tore into his team-mates after branding Monday night's chastening 6-0 loss at Chelsea the "most embarrassing" moment of his entire career.
The veteran centre-half, 31, has been an ever present for the Toffees this season and was part of a defence that was annihilated by Cole Palmer at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues forward plundering a remarkable four goals.
Nicolas Jackson and Alfie Gilchrist also got in on the act to condemn Everton to their heaviest defeat of the campaign. And Tarkowski pulled no punches in a brutal post-match interview, where he made it clear that his team-mates should be ashamed of their sorry showing in the capital.
When he was asked to summarise his feelings after the drubbing, the former Burnley defender bluntly told Sky Sports: "[We] underperformed, the most embarrassed I have felt as an individual.
"It shows where we are at today, we can only apologise to the fans who supported us. It is on the players. It is not on the manager and the staff. No excuses on our behalf we need to brush ourselves down as we have a big few weeks coming up.

"We conceded six goals and you should feel embarrassed. [It's] nothing to do with technical aspects, people getting beat and run off and it is hard to summarise it.
"I have had dark times here but the fans stick by us in the next game so hopefully they’ll be there for us again."

The Toffees do, however, have a game in hand on most of the teams around them, and four of their final six league fixtures are against their relegation rivals.
Dyche himself also gave a damning assessment of the match, saying: "Really poor. Miles off the intent and desire to win a match. You have to give strength, put a tackle in. I thought we were mildly better second half but the first half [we were] miles off."
He added: "Collective down day. We had one at Villa when we're collectively looking for a spark. You can't give away soft goals like that. They're dancing around us.
