Katy Perry almost gave American Idol fans more than just her opinion after suffering a wardrobe malfunction during the latest live edition of the show.
The Firework singer, 39, had to think fast after her racy outfit broke and threatened to bare all. The extravagant metallic top "broke off" during Roman Collins' emphatic performance of It's a Man's Man's Man's World by James Brown, leaving Katy to cower behind the judges' desk.
After the song had finished, host Ryan Seacrest joked: "Katy, don't cut yourself!" as he noticed her desperately clinging to it to keep it covering her chest.

Katy then shared further footage of the incident on her Instagram account, explaining to her fans how her top broke. The clip could see show-runners frantically trying to save the day and fix the wardrobe mishap.
The star judge is seen looking stunned at what had happened and tells them: "I need my top to stay on." As the camera zooms in on her, she shoot back a jokingly concerned look as the staff get to work on her damaged attire. Holding tools in her hand, she then jokes: "If it's not fixed, this show is gonna get more than it wanted."
Fellow judge Luke Bryan then comes in to try and save the day, insisting "I got it. I'm goingin." With small pliers in his hand he gives off a blank stare as he looks at the mishap on the back of the top.

Both Luke and fellow judge Lionel Richie excitedly joked that the incident will be a ratings booster before Katy, hiding beneath the judges' table insisted: "It's a family show," before covering herself with a pillow.
Fans were loving the clip on social, wit one user saying: "You know it's serious fashion when the power tools come out." Another gushed: "I love you you’re soooo iconic."
However, not everyone was willing to let the extravagant look go without comment, with one user brandishing it as "a car bumper".
Katy had earlier shared images of her look on social media, telling fans: "If you see a shark you’re left brained, if you see #idol tonight you’re my bestie."
It was again met with a mix of responses, with one labelling it "iconic". Orlando Bloom couldn't help but mock his partner, though and joked: "Glad I could bend that frying pan with my bare hands for you baby."
