Jet2 is making a big change to a number of its flights just before the Easter holidays.

Families getting ready to fly from Manchester Airport should be aware of a big switch happening next week, right before the school holidays start. Normally, Jet2 planes take off from Terminal 2 at Manchester Airport. But starting on March 20, some of their flights will leave from Terminal 1 instead.

It's really important for travellers to check which terminal they need to go to, otherwise they may end up rushing between the two terminals in a bid to catch your flight. It takes around 15 minutes to get between 1 and 2.

This change is taking place because Jet2 is adding more flights from this airport in the north. The airline will be flying to new places and have more planes taking off at peak travel times, reports the Manchester Evening News. Until March 19, all Jet2 services will still use Terminal 2.

Jet2 has put a message on its website which explains: "Up to and including 19 March 2024, our flights will operate from Terminal 2 (T2) at Manchester Airport. From 20 March 2024, our programme of flights at Manchester Airport is getting bigger and better! That means some of our flights will operate at Terminal 1 (T1), while others will continue to operate at Terminal 2."

Jet2 has advised its customers to ensure they have all their travel extras, like parking and lounge bookings, sorted for the correct terminal. They've asked passengers to check with any companies they may have used to pre-book parking or airport lounges, or to get in touch with Jet2Extras or the Manchester Airport Group if they booked directly with them.

From March 20, Jet2 will be operating flights to and from Manchester Airport's Terminal 1 to the following destinations places:.

And from the same date, Jet2 will be flying to and from Manchester Airport's Terminal 2 to these destinations:

If you do have a Jet2 flight booked, it is also important check your and luggage before heading to the airport - or you could end up having to fork out an extra £12 (at least). Airlines all have different hand luggage rules for 2024; for Jet2, passengers are allowed to bring one piece of hand luggage on board for free, as long as it doesn't weigh more than 10kg and isn't bigger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm, including any wheels and handles.

It is also permitted to bring a small, personal item on board such as a handbag or laptop bag, but this needs to fit under the seat in front. If your hand luggage breaks these rules - ie if it's too big or your smaller bag can't fit under the seat - then you could end up having to fork out extra when you get to the airport. We have provided a full run down of the rules so you can make sure your bags are compliant.
