A petrified walker ran "screaming" because a flock of sheep chased her down a hill - while her boyfriend filmed the entire ordeal.

29-year-old Olivia Ripley and Jack Truelove, 28, went for a walk on a Sunday last week, but did not expect three sheep to start following them downhill. The office administrator says the trio started running towards the couple, imagining that it could be due to her boyfriend's bright red walking attire that day. Jack, who works as an estate agent, started taking photos and videos throughout the walk.

In the hilarious video, Olivia is shown running downhill screaming "they're going to get me" while Jack laughs and tries to reassure her "they're not going to get you". The couple soon outran them and Olivia says that after she "calmed down" she realised the video was "hilarious", even if it was "highly embarrassing".

While initially believing her screaming might scare them off, she now hopes to warn others not to run or be "hysterical" if you're being chased, as this only encourages the sheep. Olivia, from Ribble Valley, Lancashire, said: "My boyfriend and I love walks and the outdoors. We decided to go out for a Sunday walk. We had walked through numerous fields with sheep before this happened. We passed these three sheep and didn't think anything of them until they started walking towards us.

"Usually, sheep aren't bothered by people but suddenly they started running. I shouted at Jack to try and stop them but he started laughing and just shouted 'run'. I turned around and saw that they were really close behind me. All I could think was 'they are going to catch me up, charge into the back of me and I'm going to go flying'.

"It was muddy and rocky underfoot so I started to panic. I also can't bear knowing that anything or anyone is chasing me so I was completely freaked out. I thought that by screaming and being hysterical that it would scare them off but it seemed they were more interested by it. I was shouting for Jack and he just found it absolutely hysterical.

"He didn't try and get behind me or scare them off though so deep down I think he was wary too. He was wearing a bright red hat and an orange and red coat so I wondered if they were intrigued by what he was wearing."

Olivia posted the video online which gained more than 600,000 views and 69,000 likes with the caption: "POV you think your boyfriend would do anything to protect you until you're being chased by sheep...". She now hopes to warn others to not run away if you are being chased - no matter how desperate you are to get away.

Olivia said: "We ended up dipping further down the hill and managed to get away so they stopped. Once we knew the coast was clear, Jack was absolutely hysterical. He showed me the video, I soon calmed down and realised it actually was quite funny. He sent it to our family who also found it hilarious.

"I then decided to post it without thinking much of it. It seems to have blown up and lots of people are finding it as entertaining as we did. It seems that it's making a lot of people laugh, which is brilliant. I'm trying to disguise the fact that it's highly embarrassing to seem so hysterical over being chased by three sheep but it seems to be very entertaining.

"My only advice to others is to not run. Although I was desperate to get away, I think this encouraged the sheep to chase more. They were probably completely harmless but at the time, that wasn't a risk I was willing to take."
