Kate Ferdinand, the former TOWIE star and wife of ex-footballer Rio Ferdinand, got emotional as she commemorated her stepdaughter Tia's 13th birthday this week with a heartwarming message. Kate shared two photos showcasing the growth of Tia from the time they became a family to recently.
Taken from the back to protect Tia's privacy, the first photo showed a much younger Tia while the second one was a recent snapshot. Accompanying the vintage and current snapshots, Kate used the caption: "How did that happen? [crying emoji]" She also gave a sneak peek into the joyful celebrations through her Instagram Story.
The TV star posted a picture of pink balloons adorning her kitchen and wrote: "Happy 13th birthday to our princess Tia. I love you so much. A very special girl [two pink hear emojis]".

Earlier this year, Kate and Rio Ferdinand, who wed in 2019, welcomed their daughter, Shae, the couple's second child together, having previously welcomed son Kree. Rio had previously fathered Lorenz, Tate, and Tia with his late wife Rebecca Ellison who tragically died from breast cancer in 2015.

She recalled during an appearance on Anna Richardson's It Can't Just Be Me podcast, "When I think back, I don't know how we did navigate it and it's a real big blur," She admitted, "I went from being a single, carefree girl to a stepmum-of-three. And these kids have gone through so much, and there's grief. It's all a bit of a blur."

I felt a little bit shocked, I didn't really know how to parent."
The lovable TV personality has since warmly celebrated her bond with her stepchildren, expressing that they have taught her "how to love a child as my own". She shared that because she had to put significant effort into forming this bond, it feels "so special".
