Ariana Grande’s beloved 98-year-old ‘Nonna’ has made history after appearing on the singer’s recent album.
The 7 Rings hitmaker took to social media to celebrate her grandmother Marjorie Grande, who made history as the oldest artist ever featured on the Billboard Hot 100. Ariana’s Nonna appears on the final track of her seventh studio album Eternal Sunshine, which was released last month, and she can be heard on the outro of the song as she reminisces about her late husband Frank, who died at the age of 90 in 2014.
Taking to Instagram, the 30-year-old singer heaped praise on her Nonna, who was holding a plaque to commemorate her history-making achievement. “Celebrating the one and only, most beautiful Nonna who has now made history for being the senior most person to ever appear on the @Billboard Hot100. we love and thank you,” she captioned the sweet snap.

On the track, Marjorie delivered an emotional monologue as she closes the 13-song album, and recalled her favourite memories of her marriage to Frank. “And when he’d come home, and I’d see him / When he first gets off that train / It was like God almighty arrived / It was like seeing daylight,” she said. “I mean, I could’ve packed up and left a million times, you know? / It’s not that we never fought, you can overcome that, you know?”

Ariana’s track Ordinary Things debuted at number 55 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, helping Marjorie become the oldest artist ever to feature on the charts since it began in 1958. The record was previously held by Fred Stobaugh, who was 96 when Oh Sweet Lorraine entered the Hot 100 chart for one week in September 2013.
It’s not the first time Marjorie has featured on her granddaughter’s album, as she also made an appearance on the track Daydreamin' from 2013’s Yours Truly and Bloodline from 2019’s Thank U, Next. Ariana said her grandmother was “very excited” to be on her new album, as she enjoyed sharing her stories. “She was very excited to be on the album and she was very moved by it,” Ariana said on The Zach Sang Show in March. “And she loved that she was there. And she told many stories about all the different times she’s been on my albums.”
