Mike Vrabel, the former head coach of the Tennessee Titans, has found a new role in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns.
Vrabel, who was named NFL Coach of the Year in 2021, was let go by the Titans after a disappointing season that saw them miss the playoffs. Despite being linked with the New England Patriots, he remained unclaimed.
Instead, he's now joined the Browns as a coaching and personnel consultant, returning to his home state. He spent time with the Browns staff during the NFL Combine in Indianapolis and will now officially be part of the team.
Born in Akron, Ohio, Vrabel had a successful college career as a linebacker for Ohio State before being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1997. After retiring from the NFL in 2010, he began his coaching career at his alma mater in 2011.

His tenure as head coach of the Titans was mixed, with a record of 54 wins and 45 losses, and only two postseason victories in six seasons. The team reached the AFC Championship Game in 2019 but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs and failed to win a postseason game in the four seasons that followed.
Despite finishing 11-5 and 12-5 in 2020 and 2021, the Tennessee Titans lost faith in their head coach, Mike Vrabel.
"Earlier today, I spoke with Mike Vrabel and told him about my decision to make a change at head coach," said Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk in January.
"I appreciate Mike's contributions to the Tennessee Titans both on and off the field. We wish Mike, Jen, and the Vrabel family nothing but the best in the future."
Vrabel has joined the Browns, who finished 11-6 last year despite losing quarterback DeShaun Watson and running back Nick Chubb early in the season. Both stars are expected to return in 2024, and the Browns have five picks in the upcoming draft.
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry were reportedly impressed by Vrabel during the recent combine and took advantage of his links to Ohio. Vrabel also worked as linebackers coach and defensive coordinator for the Houston Texans before becoming head coach in Tennessee.
The Browns traded their first-round pick for Watson in a previous trade, meaning they will have to wait until the second round to make their first selection. The Browns have pick 54 (second round), pick 85 (third round), pick 156 (fifth round), pick 206 (sixth round), and pick 230 (seventh round).
