Celebrities have been crossing the finishing line in the 2024 London Marathon and among their number is one who has set a record for the course.

Radio 1 DJ Adele Roberts had a remarkable race as she finished in 3:30:22, which makes her the fastest woman in London Marathon history to complete the course with a stoma bag. Just 18 months ago, Adele underwent life-saving surgery for bowel cancer and she said about her achievement today: "This is the best thing I could’ve ever done. The crowds were the best: they just didn’t stop cheering! Eighteen months ago, when I got the bowel cancer diagnosis, the NHS removed it, and I now have a stoma.

"And after 12 months of chemo, I am a testament to the NHS and friends and family who got me through this. I never imagined I would be a London Marathon finisher. I am so proud of my medal! I’ve called my stoma Audrey, and she ran really fast today, and set a PB!"

Former TOWIE star M ark Wright was another who posted a personal best, as he came across the line in 3:36:53. The former footballer was ecstatic at the finish and he said about his achievement: "This was my second London Marathon, and I was striving for a better time, but to be honest, I found today much harder than the last one. I should’ve listened to Paula Radcliffe’s advice about sticking to pace. But still, I’ve beaten my time. I’m here, and I’m standing. I’m here today to inspire people to make healthy lifestyle choice switches. Even if they walk the kids, take a flight of stairs instead of the lift, or do an extra 1K."

BBC Breakfast host Louise Minchin is used to starting the day early and she once again showed that she is at her best in the mornings by running alongside her daughter and finish in an impressive 5:35:05. The 55-year-old said at the finish line: "The London Marathon is really hard, but it was an incredible experience. I ran every step of the way with my daughter. It’s her first marathon, and I’m very happy we ran every step together. There were some tears, but we got through it together. I was running for Move, who help people get back into exercise after cancer. Thank you to everybody who sponsored."

While getting up in the early hours of the morning to host BBC Breakfast can't be the easiest of tasks, running the London Marathon is even harder. In an amazing bonding experience, following a knee surgery, the presenter ran alongside her beloved daughter, clocking in an impressive 5:34:05.

Afterwards, she said: "The London Marathon is really hard, but it was an incredible experience. I ran every step of the way with my daughter. It’s her first marathon, and I’m very happy we ran every step together. There were some tears, but we got through it together. I was running for Move, who help people get back into exercise after cancer. Thank you to everybody who sponsored."

Virgin Radio DJ Chris Evans was in fine fettle at the finish line as he completed his ninth London Marathon and admitted there was more in the tank. He crossed the finish line at 4:43:51 and said afterwards: "I think we should do this twice a year, but it is great to have it back in the spring. I had a bit left at the end, but I felt great."

Newsreader Sophie Raworth, completed the London Marathon in a stunning time of 3:41:39. This was despite carrying an injury that prevented her from training for five weeks in the build up to the race. She was pleased with her efforts afterwards, saying: "It was really hard,' she said after, 'it never gets easier. My 11th London, my 19th marathon. I’ve had some problems with my calf and pushed a bit too hard. But very happy to have got through it."
