Cadbury has cracked the art of making the cheapest, most popular Easter eggs, according to a study.
Its 96g Freddo Faces had the lowest price on average in supermarkets at £1.34. And the same firm’s 97g Mini Eggs Easter egg came second at £1.43.
Researchers found 64% say Cadbury is their favourite Easter egg brand. But the company’s treats have got smaller in size while increasing in price.
Freddo Faces have shrunk from 122g in 2022, when the price was £1. A large Flake egg remains £4.50 despite dropping from 249g to 231.8g, while a Wispa egg is now 182.5g, down from 224g yet still costing £3. Record cocoa prices have boosted the cost of chocolate by almost 12% over the past 12 months.
The findings were revealed by Vouchercodes.co.uk, which looked at eight of the most popular branded Easter chocolate products across the large supermarkets. It says Brits buy 90 million Easter eggs a year and Asda and Lidl were cheapest for branded eggs – while smaller ones were best value. The firm’s Anita Naik said: “We all want to treat kids and partners at Easter but eggs get more expensive.”

The third-cheapest egg surveyed was the 190g KitKat Chunky Milk Chocolate Large Egg, which costs an average £2.15. And the priciest treat was Lindt’s Chocolate Bunny 200g, which was £4.17.
Mondelez, which owns Cadbury, said: “Our products continue to be much more expensive to make. While we provide a recommended retail price, retailers are free to set their own prices.”
