Kelly Stafford, the wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, caused a minor worry for fans that her husband might follow his legendary teammate Aaron Donald in retirement.
32-year-old Donald - a three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year - surprised fans at SoFi Stadium when he told them he's ending his 10-year career with the franchise.
Widely regarded as the best defensive player of his generation, he appears destined for the Hall of Fame and made the decisive play in winning Super Bowl LVI for the Rams.
His announcement got responses from people all over the football community, including Kelly Stafford who praised the defensive tackle for his stunning career - but caused a ripple of concern while doing so.

Posting on Instagram, she said: "Chills. Can't believe I'll be watching football without you on that field. You definitely set the bar high for the generation behind you. Miss you and @ericadonald99 already. We love y'all so much and know the future is bright! Hell, maybe I'll get Matthew to retire and we can do it together! ".
Her husband has been a big part of the Rams' success on the pitch since he joined the team in Los Angeles in 2021, helping them win the Super Bowl in his first season. Before the 2023 season started, people thought Stafford might stop playing because he got hurt the year before.
He had to stop playing in 2022 because he hurt his spinal cord, and the team struggled without him. But in 2023, he returned to help lead the team get to the playoffs. They lost to the Detroit Lions in the Wild Card Round, and that has proved to be the last game for Donald.

But others are quick to defend him, with one fan saying: "He won a Super Bowl with the Rams he's gonna be remembered as both," and another pointing out: "1 of 2 Rams QBs to win a Super Bowl, good luck forgetting that."
The quarterback himself has shut down any talk of retirement after the Rams' earlier postseason defeat. He made it clear: "That's my plan right now. My plan is to be back, and you'll have to deal with me for another year, so have fun with that."
