Rocker Bruce Dickinson is becoming a heavy metal cash machine with his plane-fixing firm making £400,000 a month.

The Iron Maiden frontman, who is a qualified pilot, has been running aircraft maintenance company Caerdav since 2012.

It is one of 13 directorships held by the 65-year-old, according to Companies House. He said: “I won’t go into the gory details, but it was a money pit for a long time.

“One of the reasons for that is that I was so busy working, trying to put money into it, that I wasn’t there long enough to make sure that people weren’t ripping me off.Anyway, I finally got much more focused on it, because it was costing a small fortune, and we turned it around.

“We’re making £400,000 net profit every month now, and we’re busy until the end of 2026.” At one stage in 2010, Bruce regularly flew Boeing 757s as a captain for the now-defunct British charter airline Astraeus.

Bruce, from Worksop, Notts, lives with his girlfriend Leana Dolci in Paris. He revealed he has recently given up flying.

He told Record Collector: “I don’t want to make Leana a widow before her time.

“My appetite for doing dangerous things when you have people that rely on you is not what it was.” Bruce has fronted Iron Maiden in two periods from 1981 to 1993 and from 1999 to the present.

The band have sold more than 100million albums, with hits including Run to the Hills.
