Clyde midfielder Liam Scullion was involved in an ugly altercation with a Bonnyrigg Rose fan after the two clubs clashed on Saturday.
Clyde beat Bonnyrigg 2-1 at New Dundas Park thanks to a Jordan Allan brace, but there were disgusting scenes after the final whistle as one of the home fans spat at Scullion. The 22-year-old then retaliated by appearing to spit towards the fan.
A Bonnyrigg fan posted a clip of the incident on social media, writing: "Shocking scenes at the final whistle from the Clyde player." However, many other fans were quick to call out the supporter who spat at Scullion in the first place.
"Disgusting from who ever that 'fan' was, Player well within his rights to stand up for himself!" wrote one. Another added: "Equally poor from the Bonnyrigg fan spitting on scullion first but absolutely cant retaliate like that. Big ban coming from scullion I would think."
In a statement, Clyde said that Scullion had met with the Bonnyrigg supporter and that they both apologised for their actions. "The club wishes to express our gratitude to the Bonnyrigg Rose officials, and match officials, who reacted swiftly and proportionately to an incident which occurred at the end of our match at New Dundas Park yesterday," they said.

"The Bonnyrigg officials enabled their supporter and our player to meet and apologise to each other. However, the incident will still be subject to our own internal disciplinary processes and, potentially, external investigations, so we will make no further comment until these are concluded."
The game was a huge relegation clash in Scottish League Two and Clyde's win means they are now just three points behind both Stranraer and Bonnyrigg. Whoever finishes bottom of the league this season will then have to fight for their future in the Pyramid play-off.
The champions of the Highland and Lowland Football League will face each other in a two-legged play-off, with the winner then taking on the bottom League Two team for a spot in next year's competition.
Scullion then retaliated by spitting back at the fanAnd Clyde boss Ian McCall is feeling optimistic about his side's chances of avoiding relegation, having now guided them to three wins in their last four games. "That's form to compete to win a title, not down the bottom," McCall said.
"I think there are still three or four clubs in the mix. For me, now, Forfar and East Fife are safe, so it's a case of four clubs. We need to get a little bit closer, and we can only do so by winning games."
McCall was appointed Clyde boss back in November following the sacking of Brian McLean, with the 59-year-old admitting at the time that avoiding relegation would be a difficult task. "I couldn't have taken on a harder challenge," he said.
"I remember Clyde when I was coming through as a manager, and they weren't where they are now. That's the target, to help them back to where they could be, but it won't be easy. Clyde were doing a lot better than that when I was starting to come through."
