Alan Shearer has hammered Nottingham Forest for the "absolute embarrassment" of their social media post questioning the referees' body, with the Premier League's greatest goalscorer asking: "What the f*** were they doing?"
Pundit Shearer said he had some sympathy with the club over the performances of Anthony Taylor and Stuart Attwell during Forest’s defeat away to Everton at the weekend.
But Forest’s bizarre rant on social media, in which they said they had “warned” PGMOL that VAR Attwell was a fan of relegation rivals Luton, is set to land them in fresh trouble with the FA. And Shearer, speaking on the Rest Is Football podcast, went on to say the club behaved without class with their online comments.
"Honestly, before we go anywhere, let’s just say well done to Everton," he said. "Very much like at the top of the table, at this stage of the season, it doesn’t matter how you play or what decisions you get, just get the three points, by hook or by crook. Everton got them and that’s all that matters.
“But what the f*** are Forest doing putting that statement out? It’s an absolute embarrassment, isn’t it? ‘We told the PGMOL he was a Luton fan’. What on earth are they thinking about? It’s embarrassing.

“I thought Anthony Taylor and Stuart Attwell had a terrible afternoon, but you can’t behave like that if you’re a top professional football club, one of the best, a team that has been amazing over the years, a European Cup and all of that.
"Then behaving like that, there’s just no class to it. How ever angry you are, however upset you are, you cannot be putting statements out like that.”

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo said: “You see it so clearly, you don’t understand why the decisions were against us.” And he could face an FA charge of misconduct after claiming “we have always been on the end of bad decisions” and his “disappointment that we are always being punished.”
With four games to play, Forest are one point ahead of Luton. But they are waiting for an appeal to be heard against their points deduction for a breach of the Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules.
