Tallulah Willis diagnosed with autism at 30 amid dad Bruce's dementia battle

Tallulah Willis has opened up about her autism diagnosis for the first time, sharing a sweet throwback video with her dad Bruce.

The 30-year-old actress shared her health discovery with her 402,000 Instagram followers over the weekend. Tallulah posted a 2004 clip of her and her dad - who is currently battling an aggressive form of dementia - together on the red carpet.

Captioning the post, she wrote: “Tell me you’re autistic without telling me you’re autistic.” In the video taken at the premiere of The Whole Ten Yards, a 10-year-old Tallulah - who starred in the movie alongside her dad - is being held by Brunce as he answers a journalist’s questions.

While her dad is speaking business - young Tallulah is seen fiddling with his ears and rubbing her hands over his bald head repeatedly and the video has seen a flurry of comments from her fans who wanted to know more.

Responding to a comment asking about her diagnosis, Tallulah responded: “This is the first time I've ever publicly shared my diagnosis. Found out this summer and it's changed my life.”

The Stars on Mars star - who is the youngest of three daughters that Bruce shares with ex-wife Demi Moore - also shared that getting the diagnosis felt like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders. When one fan asked whether she felt relieved, she replied: “Exponentially”.

Fans were quick to praise Tallulah for being so open about her diagnosis, calling her “brave” and “inspiring”. One wrote: “I’m proud of you being so open about your diagnosis,” while another simply wrote: “Thank you”.

Since Bruce’s diagnosis, Tallulah has shared numerous heartwarming memories of her and her dad on social media. In November last year, she shared an emotional post about her father’s health battle, captioning a cute selection of photos of the duo: “Damn, these photos are hitting tonight. You're my whole damn heart and I'm so proud to be your Tallulah Belle Bruce Willis.”

Tallulah has previously opened up about her eating disorder battle as well as her ADHD diagnosis. Writing in Vogue in May 2023, she said: “For the last four years, I have suffered from anorexia nervosa, which I've been reluctant to talk about because, after getting sober at age 20, restricting food has felt like the last vice that I got to hold on to.”
