Reality star James Argent has admitted that he "really struggled" on Valentine's Day after splitting from his teenage girlfriend
The 36-year-old had to avoid social media as he knew it wouldn't 'make him feel great'. The Only Way Is Essex star split from Stella Turian, 19, back in November after a year of dating. The split was said to be "heartbreaking" for Arg, who had been with the law student since the previous September.
Although he's 'in a good place', the romantic day was still difficult for him. He explained: "'I'm in a really good place. Everything in my life is perfect, apart from my love life. It would be nice if that would change. I'll be completely honest, this year I really struggled on Valentine's Day.
"I remember, I woke up and thought, I am not going to look at social media. It's not that I'm heartbroken or upset, but just because I knew it's not going to make me feel great because I didn't have a Valentine, I don't have a girlfriend."
He said to My Dirty Laundry podcast host Rebecca Davison: "But, I couldn't help it. There was times where I'd just have a little glance and all you would see was couples. Everyone's madly in love. Everyone's happy. Everyone's out on dates. There's flowers, there's balloons, there's chocolates, there's date nights or trips or happily married couples - and yeah, it did start to affect me a little bit."
Woman blasted as 'selfish' for not bringing sister-in-law along on romantic tripHe tried to make himself feel better by leaving the house but it didn't help him as he say Valentine's Day products in every aisle. The reality star added: "But I went to bed that night, had a good night's sleep and then the next day I was fine. I was happy again, I was fine."
Earlier this year, he appeared on Lorraine and opened up about his life and relationship. The star chatted about his music career and his new reality show stint on Celebrity Cooking School and said he's hoping that the new skills he's picked up on the show will help him find love this year.
Speaking about finding love in 2024, Arg revealed: "I'm not looking for it - if it happens, sure. I'm not chasing it," before joking his new skill might help him, as he added: "They say women like a man who cooks, so that might make me more attractive." However, he insists he has no bad blood with any of his exes, sharing: "All three of them, I can say they're my mates now."
